Definition - (Aka Dictionary of American Regional English)

A dictionary of American dialect speech put together by Frederic Gomes Cassidy and many others. The first volume appeared in 1985. It listed thousands of geographically specific dialect words – e.g. tall flowering plants known in the South as Aaron's Rod. The final volume was published in 2012
