Definition - A change in a word's meaning over time that causes it to have a more positive connotation.

Example -
The word mischievous once meant "unfortunate" or "disastrous." Over the years, it has come to mean "playfully malicious or annoying."

Etymology -
The term derives via French from the Latin melior, better.
