American Dialectical Society (ADS)

Definition: "Founded in 1889, the American Dialect Society is dedicated to the study of the English language in North America, and of other languages, or dialects of other languages, influencing it or influenced by it. Our members include academics and amateurs, professionals and dilettantes, teachers and writers.
American Speech is the society's quarterly journal; there is an online archive, covering 1925 to the present, available to members. NADS, our newsletter, is issued three times a year. Online access to its back issues is unrestricted."
