cledonism
Definition - The use of circumlocution to avoid saying words that you believe are unlucky - e.g. most people avoid saying words like died or Nixon.

Notes:
1. The innate human cledonistic penchant is a perpetual euphemism generator (e.g. deceased, departed, passed-away, and bit the dust).

Etymology -
The word probably derives from the Greek kledon, report or fame.
