The Online Dictionary of Language Terminology (ODLT)

coordinate adjectives
Definition - Consecutive adjectives that modify the same noun.

Example -

The quick, brown fox (both adjectives modify the noun fox).
But not:
The dark brown fox (the adjective dark modifies the adjective brown).

Usage:

1. To avoid ambiguity, separate them with a comma.
quick, brown fox

2. There are two ways to test if adjectives are coordinate:
(1) reverse their order or
(2) put an and between them.
If the meaning stays the same, insert a comma.
