double plural
Definition - The phenomenon where an additional plural ending has been added to an already pluralized word because the first had lost its plural force. For example, the word kine was coined as a double plural of the Middle English kye, cows.

As opposed to a reduplicated plural, which is the grammatical form that results from the superfluous use of a second plural ending. For example, in the phrase two dogs the pluralizing s on dogs is superfluous because the two gives all the information that is needed to indicate that this is a plural.
