He invented a language.

(1893 – 1979) Ivor Armstrong Richards was an extremely influential literary critic and scholar. In addition, to make it easier for people to learn English, he and C. K. Ogden invented a 850-word version of English called Basic English. It was the inspiration for the thought-control language Newspeak in George Orwell's 1984.
