independent marker word

Definition: Any connecting word — such as also, nevertheless, consequently, furthermore, and therefore — that is used to join independent clauses.
Usage:
1. If the sentence's second independent clause starts with an independent marker word, the independent marker word should be preceded by a semicolon and followed by a comma.
We had a nice chat while we waited for the bus; however, it was raining the whole time.
