null subject parameter
Definition - The Chomskyan parameter that divides languages into:

(1) pro-drop languages, where the sentence's subject can be left out (e.g. Italian Sono di Torino, am from Turin), and

(2) non-pro-drop languages, where the sentence's subject must be present in the sentence (e.g. English: "I'm from Turin and I speak Italian.")
