Definition: A vocabulary or alphabetical list of proper names, especially of human names.
Example: The Onomasticon of the Hittite Pantheon (in three volumes)
Etymology: It derives from the Greek onomastikon biblion, book of names.
Oxford English Dictionary: The word's first OED citation is from 1710: " What we find in all Thesaurus's, Lexicons, Glossaries, Onomasticons, etc."
