reflexive pronoun
Definition - A pronoun that is used as the direct object of a reflexive verb.

Notes:
1. Reflexive pronouns always terminate with self or selves (e.g. himself and ourselves).
2. They are also called reciprocal pronouns.

Example -
The herself in She killed herself.

Usage:

1. They must always refer back to a previously mentioned word.

My buddy asked myself to the party. (bad)
My buddy invited himself to the party (good)

Etymology -
The word reflex derives from the Late Latin reflexus, a bending back.

The term's first citation is from 1867:
