secondary orality
Definition - The types of verbal communication that are made possible by modern technologies, e.g. sending a text message.

As opposed to primary orality, which denotes types of verbal communication that are not mediated by modern technologies, e.g. having a chat with someone in a cafe.

Etymology -
The concept was introduced by the American rhetorician Walter J. Ong in Orality and Literacy (1982).
