Etymology -
The word derives from the German Terminologie, a hybrid coined by C.G. Schütz in 1786. He coined it by combining the Medieval Latin terminus, word or expression, with the Greek logia, a speaking of.

Oxford English Dictionary -
Its first citation is from 1801:
"Mr. Nemnich, of Hamburg, will shortly publish a complete Nosological Dictionary. … It is to consist of two parts, in the first of which the Latin terminology will be given, and in the second, the dictionary of the above languages, relating to diseases, with a Latin explanation."
