Definition - The art or practice of printing. As opposed to orthography, which is the art or practice of spelling.

Etymology -
The word derives from the French typographie, which in turn ultimately derives from the Greek typos, dent, impression, mark, figure, original form + -grapheia, writing.

Oxford English Dictionary -
Its first citation is from 1641: "The happy Monke whom they report to have been the first inventor of Typography."
